A Mexican court issued a ruling on Wednesday to proceed with the prosecution of the alleged perpetrator responsible for the deaths of two Australians and an American during a surfing expedition, as disturbing details emerged from the suspect’s purported confession.
The court proceedings centered around Jesus Gerardo “N” — also known by the alias “El Kekas,” a nickname loosely translating to quesadillas — held in Ensenada, Baja California. This came after the discovery of the bodies of brothers Callum and Jake Robinson, along with their friend Jack Carter Rhoad, last Friday.
According to reports from the BBC, the suspect’s girlfriend testified in court, alleging that he confessed to the killings upon returning home from the camping trip. The 23-year-old woman informed investigators that on April 28, he arrived at her residence and disclosed that he had harmed “three gringos.”
When questioned further, she recounted that he explicitly stated, “I killed them,” as relayed to the court. Additionally, prosecutors cited by the BBC reported that he displayed newly acquired tires purportedly taken from the belongings of the three surfers.
During court testimony, it was revealed that one of the suspects implicated in the triple murder of two brothers and their friend, who were in Mexico for a surfing excursion last month, purportedly confessed to the heinous act.
According to statements presented in court, Jesús Gerardo Garcia Cota reportedly arrived at his girlfriend Ari Gisel García Cota’s residence on April 28 and confessed to having done something to “three gringos,” as testified by the girlfriend on Wednesday, as reported by the BBC.
Upon being questioned about his statement, Garcia Cota allegedly responded to Ari Gisel by chillingly stating, “I killed them.”
This admission occurred on April 28, the day following the last sighting of Australian brothers Jake and Callum Robinson, aged 30 and 33 respectively, along with their American friend Jack Carter Rhoad, aged 30, in the city of Ensenada, located in the Mexican state of Baja California, where they had gathered for a surfing trip.
Following the confession, Ari Gisel recounted that her boyfriend escorted her to her car, which he had reportedly equipped with new tires believed to have been taken from the victims’ pickup truck.
