The Franklin County Coroner’s Office disclosed the identity of the woman who tragically fell to her death during Ohio State University’s commencement ceremony on Sunday.
Larissa Brady, a 53-year-old from Georgia, was declared deceased at 12:25 p.m. at the site outside Ohio Stadium, confirmed by Columbus firefighters. Her identification was established through fingerprint analysis by the coroner’s office. However, the initial release from the coroner did not specify whether her fall was accidental or intentional.
According to the 2024 program, Brady’s daughter was among the graduates being celebrated at Ohio State on that Sunday.
Ohio State University and its police department have provided limited details regarding the incident. In response to the tragedy, the university reached out to all graduates and volunteering staff from the graduation ceremony to offer counseling services, as stated by spokesman Ben Johnson to The Dispatch.
Despite the somber atmosphere following the news of the death, the commencement proceeded without interruption. Neither university officials nor commencement speakers, including social entrepreneur and OSU alum Chris Pan, made any mention of the incident during the ceremony.
As students exited the graduation venue, they passed by the area where Brady fell, still cordoned off by yellow crime scene tape.
