A complaint has been lodged by the election agent of Prajwal Revanna, the sitting Member of Parliament (MP) of Hassan district in Karnataka, regarding the circulation of sleazy and morphed videos of the MP online. The complaint, filed on Tuesday by Poornachandra Tejaswi MG, representing the JD(S) and the BJP, accuses Naveen Gowda and others of disseminating the videos.
According to the complaint, Naveen Gowda and his associates have been circulating morphed videos and images to voters in the Hassan Lok Sabha segment via pen drives, CDs, and WhatsApp. The aim is to tarnish the image of Prajwal Revanna and dissuade people from voting for him.
Prajwal Revanna, the grandson of former Prime Minister H D Devegowda and son of Holenarasipura MLA and former minister H D Revanna, is seeking re-election for a second term. He is contesting against Congress candidate Shreyas M Patel, the grandson of G Puttaswamy Gowda, who defeated Devegowda in the 1999 Lok Sabha elections on a Congress ticket. Voting in the Hassan constituency is scheduled for April 26 in the second phase of the Lok Sabha elections.
