Paige Bueckers has addressed the recent emergence of explicit AI-altered photos circulating on social media this week.
On Sunday, doctored images featuring UConn’s Bueckers and former Iowa standout Caitlin Clark, the top pick in the WNBA Draft, surfaced online. This disturbing trend highlights the misuse of AI technology, with LSU women’s basketball star also becoming a victim of similar explicit content.
Despite the challenges, there has been an overwhelming show of support for Bueckers throughout this trying period. Breaking her silence on the issue, the UConn women’s basketball phenom took to social media to express her gratitude.
“The devil works hard but God and the people around me work WAY harder. The outpouring of love and support from the WBB community is unreal. Love yall. Support women in sport ALWAYS,” Bueckers shared.
In response to the controversy, Bueckers’ supporters have rallied around her, flooding social media with highlights from her basketball career and revisiting her impactful 2021 ESPYs speech.
Meanwhile, Reese appeared to address the AI scandal on Tuesday with a message urging the protection of young women in sports.
